Barnicules (Part 2)

Dear 2013 Continued,
June: I gave a concert. A concert of Heidi. I sang for friends and family. The room was packed and just filled with love. I graduated from High School. I had never been so ready to grow up. The over-night party was fun. I strangely didn't get tired. I spent my summer in the most unproductive way possible. I went to work, helped around the house, and watched Gilmore Girls. Some people say that is awful but it was the best summer. My sister would watch some episodes with me and it connected us. We both have a love for GG. Brandt and Meme got married. High School sweethearts. It honestly doesn't get cuter than their story. I went to many farewells. I also got to train the cutest girl at Cadets. Her name is Brigette and we had so much fun together. I was actually sad leaving her behind because we had grown so close.
July: Basically all I can say is Joe's Valley. Life doesn't get any better. It is the one week a year that I don't think about anything. I live purely in the moment. I read books, take pictures, play with kids, go for a drive, listen to music, eat food, laugh with my cousins, take a nap, and just enjoy the beauty all around. This month I got especially close to my cousins the Kunzler girls. I take that back, I got extremely close to my whole family. It was a great unifying week.
August: This is the month that my life made a drastic change. I quit my job. Went to the last round of farewells. I went on a date (yes, that is important enough to add). I moved out. I started school. I went river rafting. I met my new best friends. I tried out for Women's Choir. And I started a new life.
September: My ballet teacher from Murray Community got married. That story is super cute also. School. The days flew by but the weekend seemed to be a distant memory. September was the month of boys. That is basically all we would talk about in our apartment. I also celebrated Mercedes' birthday with her. I finally used my adult powers and stayed out till 1:00 in the morning. Also I sang karaoke. Surprisingly I don't do it very often.
October: Two concerts in one month. Imagine Dragons, and the Matt Nathanson/Joshua Radin concert. Both were AMAZING! I finally got a hair cut. Who knew that it would only take a year and a half! Relief Society Retreat at the Bishop's cabin. That was fun. Four wheeling in the chill of the morning. We had our first cleaning check in our apartment, and guess what, we all passed!
November: Tyler came home. Two years had somehow flown by. The new adventure began. Introducing him to normal life, and the cold. Poor boy.  Thanksgiving. My favorite. I love stuffing my face with food and it is socially expectable to eat until it hurts. I loved spending time with my family. And lets not forget my little cousins!
December: Who needs sleep? This has become my new motto. Every night is a party night. And this finally caught up to me. I got sick. I haven't been sick like this in long time. It really makes you appreciate being healthy. I sang in my Home Ward (while sick). Not the best situation but it was an overcoming feeling because I wasn't as nervous as I usually got. Finals. My first finals week. And boy was it scary. Christmas was a little different this year. No Missionary Skype or Phone calls. That was a fun moment.
Here comes the new year.
Love, Heidi

Barnicules

Dear 2013,
Wow. What a year.
But isn't it always.
365 days. A lot has happened.
January: I got a phone. Who knew that would impact my life so much. But it really has. It has been a huge blessing. I am able to contact people when needed. I also said goodbye to my cousin Anthony for him to go on his mission. I also said goodbye to my cousin Stockton for him to go on his mission. Isn't that crazy. Two cousins in on month. I stayed for a few days at my aunt and uncle's house. I got to play with my adorable cousins. For the end of January I went to a dance at my high school stag. I had fun but dances are definitely more fun with boys.
February: I sang a solo. An Italian aria. That is something to be proud of. It was my very first run and was a success. The choir boys came by one night. They sang "In the Still of the Night." I also re-watched Mean Girls. That was a big step because I can now quote it like every other white girl on the planet.
March:  Region Solo and Ensemble. This was the moment I sang my solo for real. I was getting judged and this night would decide if I went to State or not. No pressure, right? Well, I made it to State. I remember helping Mr. Scott enter the scores and seeing mine and basically going into shock. It was an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment. Madrigals also got a one at Region so they were going to State also. St. Patrick's Day I went to two farewells. Well, there was supposed to be two. Life didn't quite work that way. But on the bright side I spent that day with my Starlettes. Plus I got a new dress out of it. And the very best part of March was the end. I went to New York City for Choir Tour. Seeing all the sights, taking a ton of pictures, stealing ketchup bottles, sneaking out, laughing it up with my choir peeps. You know, the usually stuff. I remember eating THE BEST waffle in the history of waffles. I would love to have another waffle like that. I went to my first Broadway play, Newsies. It was amazing. Central Park is just beautiful. I just love the city.
April: I came home from New York on April Fools day. It was the worst prank. I sang in the school talent show. I attended orientation for UVU. I didn't go to my Senior Formal. But instead I went to The Old Spaghetti Factory for the first time. And can I say that I am in love? A plus to being in the Madrigal presidency is being a judge for auditions for next years choir. Some people hate that but I love it. I love helping people achieve their dream. I went to Solo and Ensemble State and both Madrigals and I got a one. That still baffles my mind I said goodbye to my best friend as she left for the MTC. That was difficult.
May: Mother's Day was great. I got to talk to Tyler and I knew that would be my last time skyping him because he was coming home soon. That was too good to be true. Christina came home for health reasons but it was a blessing for me. I needed my best friend and she came home just in time to prep me for a rough road. I had my Madrigal End of the Year Concert. It was a fabulous night. I couldn't believe that the best part of my Senior Year was over. May was hard because I found who my true friends were. I found them in the most inconvenient way. Lots of tears were shed in May but I became a stronger person because of it. I can stand on my own. I learned friends shouldn't be making life a nightmare but rather they should lift you up, not tear you down. My family threw me a surprise party for my 18th birthday. And I was beyond surprised. It was a great way to end the month because I knew the people that came to my party really did care about me. I had my last choir concert and I danced in the rain.

to be continued...

Mormon Monday

Mormon Tabernacle Choir

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir puts on a concert every year around Christmas. It is a great way to bring in the Christmas Spirit. They have a guest performer and guest narrator. I had the opportunity to go this year and there are no words to describe. The feeling in the Conference Center was so peaceful. 21,000 people in complete silence.
I would recommend this to everyone. I hope to make this a Christmas Tradition.

Behind the Scenes

I am rarely in pictures.
Well, besides phone selfies.
But this picture Luiza took of me. And I love it.
Because it has me doing the thing I love.
Photography.

Done

Finals are done.

Can you say relief.
My first college semester is over.
That is a strange thought. Talk about growing up.
Yet, my 'to do' list just keeps getting bigger.

Mormon Monday

"Using your talents is the best thing you can do to build the kingdom of God."
I love this because each of us were given certain gifts that are special. We need to use our gifts to reach out to others. There are people out there that only you can reach. And that speaks to me because there is a person out there for me. I need to find this person.

Mormon Monday

The Salt Lake Temple is beautiful.
It took 40 years to build.
It is the heart of downtown Salt Lake City.

The Salt Lake Temple is one of my favorite temples.
It is just breathtakingly beautiful.
Plus the Christmas lights!

Urban Dictionary

I usually don't do this kind of thing, but you know, you get bored. And everyone on Twitter was posting their definitions and it made me curious to see what mind could be. Well, it was definitely a self-esteem builder.

Heidi:

Heidi is an amazing, energetic, smart, styling, rocking, funny, gorgeous girl. She laughs at everything and is almost always smiling. She is beautiful both inside and out. This girl definitely has a temper, but she controls it most of the time. She is a dude magnet. Every guy on this planet is lucky to have her. She is really rare and unique friend. Heidi is the name only given to those who deserve and respect it. There is no such thing as simply "A Heidi," as anyone with the name of Heidi deserves special recognition. She may be aloof sometimes, but once she opens up to you she will become your best friend. She is very smart and gives the best advice around.

You see what I am saying?

Mormon Monday

This is my favorite talk. And probably will always be my favorite.
If you know me you know that I love fairy tales. And so this talk is just relatable.
I love that we are writing our stories. We are living the adventure. Sometime you think to yourself that one day your life will be exciting, when in reality that day should be today. You are writing your life, just make sure it is worth reading.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has come and gone.
I hope everyone was grateful.
I got to spend lots of time with family.
What could be better?
