Emergency Food

Some people laugh that 95% I have food with me. Whether it is goldfish, fruit snacks, or a granola bar. They are questioning the system. I get hungry. And when I am hungry I don't want to wait three hours before I get home to eat. If I wait then I go through hot flashes, headaches, and I get super shaky. Thus I don't wait. I bring out my food and enjoy. My roommates are catching on. Now when they are hungry they turn to me and ask if I have food to spare.

Now, why would I write about this? Because I just ate my last emergency granola bar. I am actually quite sad about it. Time to replenish.

Mormon Monday

I love temples.   Read about them here!
You never see an ugly temple.
One of my favorite things is to is to get on Frontrunner and see all the temples as I am traveling the two valleys.
Currently there are 141 temples operating, 13 under construction, and 16 announced.
My favorite temples are Bountiful and Salt Lake.

What's your favorite temple?

Arizona & Texas

Melissa, Camille and I took our first road trip as roommates.
Camille planned the trip.
Melissa drove.
I documented.
We left Sunday morning for Moab Utah.
Heidi, Camille & Melissa
Driving long stretches of road is fairly boring to most people. I love it. I love the time to think and reflect on life, past, present, and future.
Long stretch of road.
Featuring Arizona
There was a truck that we traveled a long way with. The license plate was from Arizona. So thus we named the car Arizona. (Melissa's car is from Texas) So for a while on the road we were having adventures with Arizona. Eventually we lost Arizona. It was a sad moment. We had an emotional moment.
We caught up again.
Slight detour. We saw a river so we went to check it out. Naturally. In this mini adventure we found a freight train. A very short train. So I took a picture.

Eventually we reached Arches National Park.
Much to our surprise it was a Free Weekend. We didn't have to pay a fee for the park. That was awesome! I took so many pictures of the scenery. Of course those will go in my photography blog.
We hiked Delicate Arch. Let me tell you now if you ever plan on doing this hike, take sunglasses. The ones that wrap around your head because the wind is awful. Blowing lots of dirt. It is almost impossible to see.
Of course my roommates wanted to hang off the edge of the earth. So I stood back and took pictures. I couldn't have all of us falling to our deaths.

After the hike we were hungry.
Hungry is actually an understatement. So we went to town for a bite to eat.

 We settled for Pasta Jay's.
It was an interesting experience. We felt a little under dressed and dirty but what can you expect from girls that were living out of a Prius?
Now that our stomachs were full it was time to figure out sleeping arrangements. We decided on the campground at the top of the national park. Camille drove so that Melissa could get the car ready. One the way up there was a moment that will forever make us laugh. There was a bump in the road. Or rather a bunny. And now that bunny is in bunny heaven. It went a little like this:
"Camille hit the breaks, Heidi hit the dashboard, Melissa hit the front seat, and the bunny hit the wheel." (Quote taken from Camille)
We honestly still laugh about this because it is hilarious.
We parked the car in a parking lot, rolled out our bed. And we all snuggled in tight.

It was an interesting night of sleep. We learned that more pillows, blankets, and mattress pads are required for this adventure.

Monday morning we hit a few more sights.
We walked the windows.
No Edit
Goodbye arches. Onto the ghost town!
We went to Sego Utah. Which was through a small town (population of 40), around a corner, and up a canyon.
First stop: Cemetery.
This was interesting because in the back corner there was a grave for a war veteran that had died in 1995. All the other graves had end dates of 1920.

The rest of the town was hard to make out because of all the wear and tear of time.

Old boarding house was burned down and collapsed.

We also ran into pictographs and petroglyphs.

Mormon Monday

This is the opening for General Conference April 2013.
I always love when they open General Conference because we get the statistics of the church. We learn how many missionaries are out, membership, and temples. I love hearing how the church has grown within the last six months.
Even though conference is still a few months away, I am so excited! Hearing the living prophets speak. Honestly, in my book, it is the best weekends of the year.

Bucket List

I sang in the mall.
With a boy.
That I just met.
The story is very basic.
This boy from Men's Choir works with my roommate Melissa. I got a Snapchat on Tuesday asking if I knew the song "All About Us" by He Is We. Well, it just happens to be one of my favorite songs so of course I said yes. She said great. You are going to sing it with Ben. And I said yes because, well, I had no good reason to say no. And really it simply went like that. We went to the mall and boy was I  nervous. So many butterflies. Did I mention we didn't exactly run through it? So this was a first run of the song. Not to shabby if you ask me. All in all it was pretty exciting. Who else can say they have sang a duet in the middle of the mall?

On the other side of things, Happy Valentine's Day!

College Life

They say that college is the time to be crazy. Do things you wouldn't do any other time in your life. As active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we have some limitations on the world's view of "fun." So instead we dye hair. In our eyes that is fun. As of this moment I am the only one in my apartment with Virgin Hair. AKA hair that hasn't been dyed. Camille was the most recent victim. She went from blonde to brunette. In my opinion she looks fabulous! But I think I am up next.

Mormon Monday

In honor of Valentine's Day this week I thought I would share something that has to do with love. A Celestial Marriage is my goal. It is something I dream of every day. I can't wait to find a guy that I can share that passion and love. I want to be the cute couple in the ward that makes all the teenagers swoon.
If you love someone you want to be with them for eternity.

Best Days End in Pizza

We recently learned that there is a Little Caesars located in the same parking lot as JoAnn's. Which is glorious because Melissa happens to work at night a lot. We also learned that it doesn't close till 11:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Life just keeps getting better. Chances of us having pizza more often has risen in the past 24 hours.

Adventures of Discovery

Melissa put me in charge of the Saturday adventures. To me, that was a lot of pressure. But I think I did all right. We started off with lunch at the Purple Turtle. And boy was it delicious and filling. We then took the fun to Discovery Park. You may say that it was raining and cold but that made it more fun. Plus no kids to get in the way of our playing. We ran around the playground and crawled through lots of secret passage ways, swung on the swings, and we even played hide and go seek. Which is a game that I am not a fan of. Apparently being alone on a playground freaks me out. By the time we left we were slightly numb. We then drove around Pleasant Grove while singing our lungs out. Stopped at a few stores. All in all it was a successful day of fun.

Olympic Fever

We have the Olympic Bug over here at F407. We have been watching everything on NBC and loving every minute of it. Personally, that is how I plan on spending my time for the next two weeks. I love watching all this amazing talent come to one place to shine. I feel like it brings a strange unity to the world. Yes I understand that it is one big competition against every country, but the fact that we have representatives from the majority of the countries just amazes me.
My favorite winter event is figure skating. No shock there if you look at my dancing background. So here is a little clip I found that highlights the main competition for the figure skaters. Now we can keep a close eye on these people and see who really brings home gold. Also, did you notice that they made figure skating a team sport? I found that strange but also intriguing.
A fun fact about the Olympics is that there are three Olympians that graduated from UVU. Yes, my school. How cool is that?

Mormon Monday (On a Wednesday)

I was in tears by the end of this.
I found two quotes that were noteworthy.
"If the foundation of faith is not embedded in our hearts, the power to endure will crumble."
and the other one I loved was:
"Even acting on a twig of faith will cause God to grow it."
These quotes just spoke to me because we all have trials and they all seem never ending. You may feel like your faith is lacking. That is okay. Christ makes up the difference. So carry on and trust in God; and His timing.

A Gem Really

This picture may not say much to you but it says a lot to me.
This is my roommate taking out the trash. No big deal, right?
Wrong. See that oven mitt? Yes, the one on her hand. She doesn't take the trash out (or at least not till now. I have ruined her ;)). This was an overcoming moment. And that oven mitt never came back to the apartment.

Baby

Alina
It happens to the best of us. We all get baby hungry at one point or another. Usually I can keep mine under control. Now this little cutie came and visited me at college. All my roommates loved her. Happy little baby. And lucky me I got to capture a few pictures. I just adore how innocent babies are. Completely naive. Not broken from the world. We can actually learn a lot from them. Enjoy life. Eat your food and smile. When you fall down have someone kiss it better and forget about it. Just keep moving.
